Week 9: The Power of Words, Self-Awareness, and Gentleness with Ourselves

Hello November! We’re here. We’re listening.

November arrives quietly. The air feels different, the light softer, the pace a little slower. It asks less from us and offers more space to breathe.

This is the month that reminds us how change doesn’t always shout. It can come gently, through cooler mornings, earlier evenings, or a moment of stillness that feels new even in the same routine.

Let this month meet you where you are. Rest a little more. Speak a little less. Listen to what your heart has been trying to say underneath all the noise.

And to all our birthday babies celebrating this month, Happy Birthday!

This week's newsletter is all about the ways to connect with our inner world. So, we can better help ourselves stay connected with how we live inside our heads.

Living With Our Inner Voice

Living with our inner voice is not about perfection or constant peace. It’s about noticing the one voice that never leaves, what we say to ourselves, how we respond, and when to be gentle. Notice the conversation is you and with you. Our inner voice is part of us, and also something we are in relationship with. Different parts chime in, each trying to be heard, each with something to say.

We talk to ourselves a lot, or not enough in helpful ways. We fill the silence, especially when no one else is around.

The truth is most of what we say isn’t out loud. It’s what we whisper inside or shout inside our own heads. Self-conversation shape more of our life than the ones anyone ever hears.

The way we talk to ourselves sets the tone for how we react, how we forgive, and how we love.

We tell ourselves stories about who we are and what we deserve. Some come from truth. Some from habit. And some were handed down by people who didn’t know what else to give us.

If we pause, even for a second, we can hear what's running through.

That pause is everything. It is where choice lives. It is where our next word gets shaped.

The Mirror in the Mountains

The House Your Words Built

What if every word you spoke about yourself came true? Would you choose them differently?

Words are movement. They carry energy that lands somewhere, in the air, in your body, in the people who hear you. The tongue doesn’t just describe life, it builds it one sentence at a time. Every “I can’t handle this,” or “I always mess things up,” becomes a quiet command your body starts to follow.

You can speak to yourself as someone who is learning, not failing. Healing, not hiding. You can name yourself in a way that calls you closer to who you really are instead of pushing you further away.

Before you speak inside, pause and taste your words. Are they creating comfort, or quietly tearing something down?

“The words you speak become the house you live in.” ~ Hafiz

Every sentence builds part of your inner home. Self-criticism and small complaints weaken the walls. Kind words and honest affirmations open the windows.

We can't just rebuild everything at once. But to start reshaping our inner world, we have to notice the language living inside. Is it warm, heavy, cramped, or peaceful? Which words are shaping the space you return to every day?

Notice if you step softly and speak with care. One kind word can change the feeling of an entire room within you. By tomorrow, that room could already feel lighter, clearer, and more like home.

Gentle Practice

Take a moment this week to notice how you speak to yourself. The tone you use inside becomes the peace you offer outside.

If this reflection speaks to you, join our Enneagram group to keep exploring self-awareness and compassion in daily life.

It's here! The Enneagram Connection

The Enneagram helps us understand why we think, feel, and respond the way we do. It’s not about labeling or fixing ourselves. It’s about noticing our patterns with honesty and care.

When we begin to see those patterns clearly, we give ourselves room to grow. We become gentler with our reactions and more compassionate toward others.

Join the group to keep exploring self-awareness and the quiet work of becoming who you already are.

Who This Is For

This group is for available for any 38 Bulletin App Member who’s curious about what makes people tick, especially themselves. If you’ve ever wondered why you react the way you do, why certain patterns keep showing up, or how to find more peace in your daily rhythm, you’ll fit right in.

You don’t need to know anything about the Enneagram to join. All you need is an open mind, a little self-honesty, and the willingness to learn at your own pace. Whether you’re here to better understand yourself, your relationships, or simply enjoy good conversation, you’ll find something that speaks to you.

Week One begins with simply reading about three centers: Mind, Heart, and Body, the foundation of how we move through life.
